Linger
by Maggie Stiefvater

This is the second book in The Wolves of Mercy Falls. Now that Sam has found a way to remain in his human form, he and Grace start to establish a real life and future together. However, they must still face threats to their relationship and its stability: the growing disapproval of Grace's parents, Grace's mysterious illness, and outside threats to the wolf pack. Sam must also deal with some new werewolves, especially Cole, a very troubled young man who welcomes the oblivion of his wolf form. Grace's friend Isabel also becomes more drawn into Grace and Sam's world, developing a tenuous and abrasive connection with Cole.
Although an enjoyable read, Linger was not quite as good as Shiver. There was just a little bit too much angsting instead of acting on the part of Sam and Grace. I still enjoyed the characters, though, and really like the relationship between Grace and Sam. It's still very sweet, and healthy, and deepening in a realistic manner. Even if I did think that they should really have taken a more active and direct approach to creating a life and future together.
