Things that are making me happy
Sep. 13th, 2005 10:40 pmThis weekend my friend Jason (
darmatage moved to Boston, from San Francisco. Other Kenjari and I helped him move his stuff into his apartment. I hadn't seen him since my wedding two years and change ago. Jason is one of the friends I've known the longest, and I'm so glad that we'll be living in the same geographic area for at least a while.
After more than five years, my days as a permatemp for a Cambridge biotech company are numbered. They are planning on hiring me as a regular employee before the year is out. Better benefits, stock options, more job security - Yay!
Composing is going fairly well. I'm definitely feeling more confident about getting all my appointed tasks done in time for the applications.
There's a Quest game this weekend. I'll get to see friends, hit people with foam swords, and have fun. And Other Kenjari and I will even have time to swing by my parents' house for a visit on Sunday afternoon.
I have just had my first pain-free period in over fifteen years. Okay, I did have a mild backache for a couple of days, but it was nothing compared to the horrible death cramps I usually get. I did not take a single painkiller! I felt just fine. I really hope that it's something I'm doing (maybe the good multi-vitamin I started taking?) rather than just a fluke, so that I can figure it out and keep doing it. Because I've got about thirty more years to go before menopause.
Now if only I didn't have to have a day job and could thus spend all my time making music and reading books.
