This historical romance was incredibly satisfying. Lady Pandora Ravenel is an eccentric wallflower, impulsive and imaginative. Her dreams center more around founding her own board game company than around romance and marriage. However, when she and the devastatingly handsome Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent are caught in what only looks like a compromising situation, Pandora finds herself on the cusp of a scandal that only marriage can avert. Fiercely protective of her independence, Pandora resists the idea of marrying Gabriel. But over the course of a week-long visit at Gabriel's family estate, they fall deeply and passionately in love.
This romance was very beautiful. I loved both these characters and the arc of their love. Gabriel not only accepts Pandora's quirks, but genuinely loves her for them. He comes to really see her, and she him. There's so much heat and passion between them, but also a lot of tenderness and deep understanding. I liked how even in the midst of all the strong and swoony emotions, Pandora still insists on her equality and independence in the relationship, and Gabriel honors that. I found the third act adventure a little bit tacked on, but I didn't mind as it provided additional and important development for their relationship.
