This romance novel is set in an urban fantasy version of the near future in which psionics and shifters live alongside humans. The Psy have molded themselves into emotionless, ruthlessly efficient people, contrasting sharply with the sensual and passionate shifters. Sascha is a Psy who has always been different, unable to either fully repress her emotions or fully access her psionic powers. When she is tasked with working on a real estate deal with the DarkRiver clan of leopard shifters, Sascha finds herself caught in a powerful mutual attraction with Lucas, the clan's leader. She soon joins forces with DarkRiver to hunt a Psy murderer, and she and Lucas swiftly fall in love.
I enjoyed this romance more than I though I would. Sascha has such a great character arc, growing from a fearful woman convinced she is fatally flawed to a confident, powerful person. Lucas was at times a bit too much of a possessive alpha for me, but the depth of his protective caring redeemed that aspect of him for me. I also really liked how Lucas was a big part of Sascha being able to find a community that truly appreciated her.
