by Sarah MacLean
This second chance romance concludes the Bareknuckle Bastards series. Here we see Grace and Ewan finally work through their complicated and tragic past and form an adult relationship full of true love and passion. This was a very angsty romance, perhaps a little too angsty for my tastes. Grace and Ewan's past includes a deep betrayal and some real trauma, so it was a lot to overcome and I'm not sure I was fully convinced by either Ewan's atonement and grovelling or Grace's coming to terms with it all. The conversation the two of them so desperately needed to have came rather late in the game, making their past dominate the narrative a little too much. Still, MacLean is very good at all of this and pulls it off pretty well.
