I liked this romance novel even more than I thought I would. I was expecting something light and fun, and it was that, but it also had a lot of heart and was very sweet. Emily has been unceremoniously dumped by her lawyer boyfriend and decides to come to the small town of Willow Creek to help out her sister April and niece Caitlin after April breaks her leg. Emily swiftly gets roped into volunteering with the town Renaissance Faire. She meets Simon, one of the organizers, and they immediately rub each other the wrong way. However, over the course of the Faire, their personas end up flirting, and it begins bleeding into their regular lives. As it becomes more clear that this is something real, Emily and Simon both have to determine if the relationship and the ways it will change their lives is something they want to pursue.
As a former LARPer who married a fellow LARPer, this book and its setting were right up my alley. I really liked both Simon and Emily - they were fun, and charming, and each had a good understanding of themselves. They both had some things in their pasts to move on from, and they talked about them and did the work. Their romance was hot and sweet in equal measure. It was all very satisfying.
