by Trish Doller
This warm, lovely slow burn romance is told from the point of view of Anna Beck. It has been ten months since her fiance Ben committed suicide. Mired in grief, she decides to take the sailboat he left her and go on the trip to the Caribbean that they had planned. After a shaky arrival in Bimini, Anna decides to hire someone to help her with the sailing. That's how she meets Keane Sullivan, a very good sailor who is trying to figure out his future in the sailing world after the amputation of his lower leg. While spending time together on and off the boat, Anna and Keane develop a close friendship that blossoms into something more.
The romance in Float Plan takes quite a while to develop, but that makes the relationship all the better. Anna and Keane get to know each other very well and help each other process and heal from their respective traumas. Doing that while also sailing around the islands made them into true partners. When their friendship turned to love, it felt very natural and real. Plus, Anna and Keane are both fundamentally good, caring people, so it was easy to like and root for them.
