by Talia Hibbert
In this romance, Eve Brown, facing her family's disappointment after a string of job and career failures, ends up in the village of Skybriar, impulsively interviewing for a job as a chef at Jacob Wayne's bed and breakfast. They strongly dislike each other at first, but Jacob is desperate for a cook and Eve is qualified, so her takes her on. As they work together, their mutual dislike evaporates and is replaced with appreciation, desire, and eventually love.
This romance is something of a slow burn, as Eve and Jacob take plenty of time to get to know each other and for their dislike to change into something else. Plus, the story is also very much about Eve discovering her own talent and satisfaction in helping to run the bed and breakfast. I loved that the story was largely about finding what and more importantly who lifts you up and brings out the best. I liked Eve's quirkiness and her growing self-awareness and self-confidence.
