by Tessa Dare
This romance novella in the Spindle Cove series was kind of meh. The heroine is Nora Browning. She grew up next door to the hero, George Travers, Lord Dashwood, and has loved him for almost as long as she's known him. Alas, he rejected her first with rudeness during her first season and then by leaving England without so much as a word in her general direction. Heartbroken, Nora resolved to make her own life and wrote a very successful feminist pamphlet featuring a thinly disguised Dashwood. On a snowy journey for a speaking engagement, Nora finds herself stranded with none other than Lord Dashwood, giving them the opportunity to resolve things between them.
This book felt like a novel-length story squished into a novella format. The relationship between Nora and Dashwood and its evolution would have been more believable and enjoyable with more time and space to play out. I would have enjoyed the plot and its turns if it had happened over a few days or weeks rather than in the span of 24 hours.
