by Mary Balogh
This romance novella in the Westcott series concerns Matilda, the 50-something spinster aunt who has spent decades caring for her mother. In her youth, she and Charles Sawyer, now the Viscount Dirkson, had fallen passionately in love but were prevented from marrying. When circumstances create a connection between her family and Viscount Dirkson, Charles and Matilda find themselves confronting feelings they had buried long ago.
This was a slight but sweet second chance romance. I liked the way Charles and Matilda came together, without very much hesitation or beating around the bush. They quickly figured out how they felt and what they wanted. I also loved the way they dealt with the past and its consequences.
