What Fresh Hell Is This?: Perimenopause, Menopause, Other Indignities, and You
by Heather Corinna

This is the other recent book out about menopause, and I think it's a little better than The Menopause Manifesto in several ways. For one, it is more gender-inclusive and thus deals with how menopause may impact one's sense of gender or gender presentation. Corinna also takes a less medically-focused approach than Gunter, discussing the ways perimenopause and menopause may affect how you feel about your body, yourself, and your life and giving pointers on how to cope with all of that. Corinna is also more open to certain alternative therapies, although she and Gunter are in firm agreement on some fundamentals. Plus, Corinna is even more feminist than Gunter (and Gunter is very feminist) in her discussion of social and cultural attitudes towards menopause and older women. I really enjoyed Corinna's more expansive treatment of the topic. Plus, her chatty, often snarky prose was a delight to read. If you only have time for one menopause book, this is the one to read.
