Book Review
Dec. 18th, 2018 08:12 pmThe Cambridge Companion to the Saxophone
by Richard Ingham
This very straightforward book covers the history, development, playing technique, and repertoire of the saxophone. While it does have a good chapter on jazz and another section on rock, it is mainly focused on the saxophone in classical and contemporary music. There's lots of good information here, in a well-organized and clear fashion. The authors clearly have a lot of enthusiasm for their instrument and its versatility. My only criticism is that between the authors chosen and the artists covered, you would think that female saxophonists were rarer than four leaf clovers.
