by Gail Carriger
This is the fifth and final book in the Parasol Protectorate series, and it wraps things up in a fun and satisfying way. It takes place almost two years after Heartless, when the Maccons have settled into their London life and their daughter, Prudence, is now about two. Prudence has manifested the interesting ability to temporarily steal their supernatural state from any vampires and werewolves she touches when the sun is down, which can range from merely inconvenient to quite perilous. The Maccons are summoned to Egypt by the oldest vampire in the world and queen of the Alexandria vampire hive, as she wishes to meet Prudence and see her abilities for herself. Once in Egypt, Alexia and Connall discover that things are of course not that simple and they become embroiled in an old anti-supernatural conspiracy.
As with the previous four books Timeless is filled with wit and adventure, plus a dash of romance. Some lingering mysteries are cleared up, and a lot of underlying issues are resolved. We also get to see some interesting developments among the secondary characters. It was a very enjoyable read.
