This novel was filled with wonderful characters and a feeling of real truth. Kingsolver is a very perceptive writer: she really gets people and she really gets life. Reading this, I felt at every minute that Taylor, Turtle, Lou Ann, Mattie, Estevan, Esperanza, and all the rest were real people, and if I went down to Tuscon I would find them all there.
