I got back from the Quest game this afternoon tired but very pleased. The game was great, and I had a fabulous time. At least from the PC perspective, everything ran smoothly, with little dead time or missteps. I ended up on the path I thought my character would be the least suited for, but still had a great time both with the path itself and the other folks on the path. We worked very well together, I thought.
The most satisfying part of the game to me as a player, even if my character wasn't as affected, was the way this game made use of the gameworld history and past events. Not only were we playing through and with events in Hesketine history that we had heard about as our regular PC characters, but we also got to deal with events that had been key moments in past games and that we had previously experienced in a different context. I spent some portions of the game, as a player, having my head hurt in various amusing ways. And of course, it was great fun to change history, if only temporarily.
Oh yeah, and the food was great. (mmmm, meaty meat pies)
On more personal note, my husband Matthew (who had decided not to come to the game) nevertheless took the train down on Saturday just to surprise me. And I was extremely surprised when he appeared after dinner. He took a three hour train trip just to surprise me! It was very sweet, and completely unexpected. Apparently he planned this two weeks ago, and told noboby. I had not the slightest idea or suspicion that he would do such a thing. It's just amazing that he still does things like that to make me feel special, even though we've been together for nearly seven years (we dated for six years before getting married). Awwwwww.
