Another chapter in the saga of my arm
May. 18th, 2009 09:28 pmI went to the orthopedist today. Not a moment too soon, either, because the anti-inflammatory has starting messing up my stomach too much to continue taking it. Unfortunately, I still have no definite answer and no treatment plan. Instead, I get to have an MRI tomorrow evening. Apparently, loss of range of motion (which I have) is not common with tendonitis, so the orthopedist wants to make sure there's nothing going on with the joint or cartilege (like an injury of some sort).
And the s-word was mentioned - surgery. Not as a definite, but as a possibility if certain problems turn out to be present (if something is torn or out of place, for instance). I really don't like the idea of surgery on my arm - I need that to play piano. I don't want my piano-playing parts messed with like that, and I hate the idea of being put out of commission for anything longer than a week. Surgery just feels so risky, in terms of preserving my ability to play at my current level. It's quite scary.
