Of Mice and Men
by John Steinbeck
This short and tragic tale was a bit of a disappointment for me, especially given how much I loved The Grapes of Wrath. I can see that it's a very good book, and I am very sympathetic towards its themes and characters. Yet I just couldn't really connect with it. Part of it is that I love Steinbeck's prose style, and the brevity didn't give me enough time to really sink into it. Same with the characters - I wanted to know more about them and spend more time with them.
