Date Night Revised
May. 11th, 2008 08:52 pmFriday was date night for Other Kenjari and I. Our original plan was to try a new restaurant in the Kenmore Square area and then head up to Boston Common for a movie. However, the nastiness of the weather changed all that to having dinner at a favorite place right near a T stop and then renting movies. We saw Gone Baby Gone and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
Gone Baby Gone was quite good. Ed Harris and Casey Affleck gave great performances. It was quite tense and suspenseful without being obvious about it, and ended up being one of the most morally ambiguous films I've ever seen.. Plus, it really captured Boston well.
Elizabeth: THe Golden Age was not as fgood as the first Elizabeth movie. I thought it was a little lacking in focus. However, Cate Blanchett is very, very good, and makes watching the film worth it. Also, the costumes are breathtaking.
