by Ursula K. LeGuin
This book of short stories bridges the gap between the first four books and The Other Wind. My favorite two stories were "The Finder" and "On the High Marsh", I think because, of the five stories in the book, they dealt most intensely with knowing the hidden parts of oneself. Also, their tone was very similar to that of the four novels. From an intellectual standpoint, I really appreciated the inclusion of an afterword describing the history and culture of Earthsea, because having a clear picture and feel for the world is very important for me when reading fantasy. The novels did not lack in this department in the least, but it was nice to have the gaps filled in.
