Children of Men
Jan. 7th, 2007 05:32 pmOther Kenjari and I went to see Children of Men last night. It's extremely good, and I highly recommend it. The performances and direction are superb, and the story is very thought-provoking. It's quite intense and even harrowing at times. The version of the future portrayed is somewhat disturbing for both its brutal bleakness and its resemblance to the present. I especially liked the way the film raises questions and issues, but doesn't give complete answers or explanations for them - even the ending is rather open-ended. It rarely takes the easy way out and isn't afraid of complexity. It's definitely a movie I'll want to see again, and one I'll be thinking about for a long time.
