I have listened to so much new music over the last two weeks that I think I've readjusted my frame of musical reference. I've been listening to Einsturzende Neubauten at night as soothing music to fall asleep to.
It's all been very illuminating and inspiring. I'm going to be doing an awful lot of composing when I get back. After I'm done sleeping and recharging, that is.

Squeeeee!

So David Harrington, first violinist and founder of the Kronos Quartet came to speak to us composers for about an hour and a half today. He's really quite great, and had alot of very interesting things to say. Then he handed out his personal business cards to all of us, so that we could send him pieces. Yup, you read that right. I've got contact info for the Kronos Quartet. I better get to writing a string quartet.
