Other Kenjari and I finally got to see Harry Potter 5 this weekend. I thought it was quite well done, even if it did feel a bit abridged or condensed. However, given the increased length and complexity of the last three books, I think we're going to have to get used to that. Imelda Staunton was very good as Prof. Umbridge - she made her style of evil quite chilling and a terrific contrast to Voldemort and the Death Eaters. I loved the scene with Umbridge and McGonagle on the stairs - it was a wonderful example of letting the visuals rather than the dialogue tell the story. Also, I love Alan Rickman.

Alan Rickman is a god. :-) A lovely and awesome god. Are you two planning on seeing Stardust? Holly and I were going to, but haven't made time just yet for it. But between good reviews, and Neil Gaiman, it's pretty high on my need to see list.

We would be interested in seeing Stardust again, yes. (We got to go to the MFA sneak preview.) We'll be away in CT this weekend, but Friday might be an option.
Re: Alan Rickman, a conversation about something he was going to be in or would be really good in sparked this recent exchange between Other Kenjari and I:
Me: Alan Rickman would be wonderful. He can do anything!
OK: Including you?
Me: Um, I plead the fifth. ;)

I saw this with the kiddo before she went back. She liked the movie but has resigned herself that all of the movies will be severely abridged. Each movie I watch with her, she has a long rant on how they Weasley's parts are just not put in the movie right.

I am so looking forward to Stardust.
