Composers Symposium Wrap-Up

kenjariThe performance of my piano pieces went pretty well. Scott messed up a little, but he made the music sound really good overall. I got a lot of compliments from the other participants.
The gamelan performance was as good as it could be. A couple of the other folks writing for the ensemble were a bit over-ambitious. They wrote good pieces, but I think they failed to take into account the fact that it was a mostly beginners ensemble with limited rehearsal time. It made the process of preparing the pieces very frustrating. We even ended up having an extra rehearsal that went from midnight to 1:30am the day before the concert. It was still fun, though.
The farewell party was tons of fun. I got to talk to most of the other participants one last time and had a great time. I even had a couple of requests for scores.
