Things are still going well here. We've started up the piano masterclasses with Lisa Moore and the focal groups (kind of like a group lesson) with Martin Bresnick. I had my masterclass session this afternoon, and it went quite well. Scott Ordway, a grad student here at U of O is my performer, and he did a good job. His interpretation of Prelude and Caverns was what I wanted, needing no major adjustments. And Lisa Moore's observations about interpreting the pieces was so insightful and illuminating. My focal group session is tomorrow afternoon.
This time around, there's a bit more slack built into the schedule. We had the evening off, so after some work on my gamelan piece, I headed out with a bunch of folks to a local park to see fireworks. We had a great time - the fireworks were great and we followed the show up with terrific conversation and a jam session using our beer bottles as instruments.
