Happy Weekend

Other Kenjari and I spent the weekend down in Philadelphia at our friend Jason's wedding. We had a terrific time. It was a lovely wedding - the ceremony was outdoors and just beautiful. The weather was perfect, the birds were singing, and the couple just glowed with heppiness. The reception was lots of fun, the food was delicious, and the company was terrific. Not only did we get to see Jason and his bride, we also got to hang out with many wonderful people that we don't get to see very often: wildpaletz and her husband senatorhatty, redhound and jendaviswilson, duskydawn and Jon. And, I got to see several people that I'd known at Wesleyan but had fallen out of touch with and not seen in over ten years. It was a terrific weekend, even with the many hours of driving required to get down there and back.
Oddly enough, we also ran into my parents on this trip. On our drive home today, Other Kenjari and I stopped at a rest stop near Fishkill, NY. As we were walking through the parking lot to the rest rooms, we passed a car that was the same model and color as my folks' and with a CT license plate. Other Kenjari said jokingly, "Oh look, it's your parents' car". I said that it couldn't be, though. We walked on and I saw a couple coming in the opposite direction and then said to Other Kenjari, "That was my parents' car, because there are my parents". We stopped and chatted, of course, with a lot of surprise on both sides. They were on their way home from vacationing in North Carolina (I hadn't even known that they were going down there this past week).
