28 Weeks Later
May. 12th, 2007 12:14 amOther Kenjari and I made an impromptu decision to go see 28 Weeks Later this evening, and I'm really glad we did. It's amazing. Robert Carlyle is very, very good in it. The cinematography and direction are excellent - especially the great and effective use of handheld digital cameras. I also liked the well-placed references to both 28 Days Later and Children of Men.
28 Weeks Later is very much a horror film, and one of the best I've ever seen. It is also absolutely terrifying, relentlessly intense, and truly harrowing. I am not ashamed to say that I nearly passed out during one sequence and had to keep reminding myself to breathe properly at several points after that, despite the fact that I have pretty strong nerves and am not easily disturbed. I highly recommend this movie, but be prepared for the experience.
