Other Kenjari and I have resolved to get a bigger and better apartment this summer, with or without grad school. When it comes to living space, grad school letters will only determine what state we'll be living in, not whether or not we upgrade our housing. Even in Boston, we can afford a nice two-bedroom apartment, and that's what we're going to get wherever we are.
Even though our current one-bedroom apartment has several nice things going for it, we've outgrown it. I want an extra room where I can put my piano, computer, and music stuff to make a little office/studio. I want a kitchen that's more of a room than a closet. I want a bigger place in general - more room to spread out in. I'm tired of having dreams in which I discover a secret or at least previously unseen room or alcove in my apartment.
So yeah, we'll be moving. City and state TBA.

Date: 2007-02-28 11:34 pm (UTC)Just after moving to Manhattan, I had a particularly vivid one in which I found a big stage-curtain at the back of a room, and behind it was the apartment next door, which was now part of my apartment, and consisted mostly of one enormous ballet-studio-style room.
ah... open space... *sniff*
I live in a friggin' cave here.
