Nov. 26th, 2006 09:00 pmI did a lot more cooking this year for Thanksgiving. In fact, I went down to my parents' house a day earlier than usual in order to help my Mom with the food preparation. We made two pies, two kinds of tea bread, stuffing, and cranberry sauce ahead of time. I think I'm finally learning the secrets of my mother's stuffing - it's really a very simple recipe, but it is the most delicious stuffing ever. Cranberry sauce is also ridiculously easy to make and is so good home-made that I'm no longer sure that the canned stuff has any reason for existing.
Best of all, the four days at my parents' place turned out to be very relaxing. I left my statement of purpose alone for the whole break and just read and watched holiday movies. I didn't spend any time stressing about PhD applications. I hope everyone else had a nice, relaxing holiday as well.
I think the thing I'm most thankful for this year is all the wonderful support and good wishes I've been receiving regarding my grad school applications this year. This is my fourth round, and I'm incredibly grateful that my friends have not tired of hearing about this saga, nor run out of encouragement.
