kenjariMy birthday yesterday was pretty good, although it was mostly just another day since most of the celebratory activity will happen this weekend. Rainy Wednesdays aren't ideal for celebrating, anyway.
The main event is tomorrow night. Other Kenjari got us tickets to the BSO's performance of Bartok's opera Bluebeard's Castle. I love Bartok, and this is a favorite of mine. We've even got pretty good seats, on the floor, not the balcony. On Saturday, we're going to Lala Rokh for dinner. Yummy Persian food, and one of the most delicious low-fat desserts I've ever had.
Other Kenjari also got me Phases, the Nonesuch retrospective boxed set of works by Steve Reich, who happens to be one of my favorite composers. I haven't got past the first CD in the set, though, because the first one os Music for 18 Musicians, and I hadn't heard it in ages, and ye gods, I'd forgotten how amazing it is. It's probably going to be a while before I get to the other CDs in the set, or the other two CDs Other Kenjari got me.

pantsie and I had singing and piano playing tonight, and it's quite a good week for music.
