Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Konono No. 1 perform at the MFA courtyard. They are a Congolese band of on thumb-piano players and percussionists, and they are amazingly good. The music is similar to West Africn drumming and juju music in rhythm and sound, but a little more hypnotic.
It was a terrific concert. The weather was ideal for an outdoor event, and there was plenty of dancing. It had been a long time since I'd had the opportunity to dance like that at a concert. I had a lot of fun, even if I did end up tiring myself out and staying up too late.
