So it looks like my hard drive crashed. My laptop no longer boots up properly, and a lot of the time, it makes strange noises. also, the Hardware Test CD that came with the laptop indicates that there is a problem with the drive.
The worst thing about having your hard drive crash on Friday night is not being able to do a damn thing about it for two days. I am taking it in right after I get home from work. The mac shop that we bought it from is only a block away, and they do repairs. The only consolation is that the computer was a refurbished model and thus came with 3 years of Applecare included, so the repairs ought to be free.
I'm also glad that I made a recent backup of all my important stuff, and that my reapplication to Oregon went out early last week.
I will only have internet access when I am at work until further notice. You can e-mail me or communicate via LJ, it's just not going to be the most immediate way to reach me. And if I promised you an mp3 file, I will get that sent out as soon as I get the computer fixed and can restore my files.
