Feeling much better
Apr. 9th, 2004 10:41 pmI'm feeling much better about the whole grad school thing. I'm still disappointed, but I'm feeling oddly confident about my prospects. I know I'm qualified and that I belong in a PhD program, and that I will find the right school.
I guess a lot of the new-found optimism comes from an e-mail I got today from Dr. Bell (my composition teacher at Boston Conservatory) in response to the news of my rejections. It was a wonderfully encouraging and supportive message that also included some very good advice about what else I can do to improve my chances for admission. It made me feel so much better and more confident. Taking that summer course in counterpoint that Dr. Bell taught at New England Conservatory four years ago was the best thing I ever did.
