Other Kenjari's Birthday
Apr. 3rd, 2004 10:15 pmToday is Other Kenjari's birthday. Happy birthday my love!
Last night I took him to Abe &
Louie's, a very swanky steak restaurant on Boylston St., across from the Pru. Wow, what a great meal. I'm not much of a fan of steak - never have been - but I ordered some anyway, along with grilled scallops. It was the best piece of beef I have ever eaten. It was perfect - cooked just right, tender and juicy, and no fat. Seriously. None, not even around the edges. The scallops were good, too. For dessert, I had a chocolate souflle. It was good, a surpising mix of rich chocolateyness and light, fluffy texture.
Today we went out to see Hellboy. It was a thoroughly enjoyable movie. Cthulu-worshipping Nazis + Rasputin = entertaining villains. The direction was very good - there were at least a couple of shots I noticed that mimicked the way things are often presented in comics, same angles, lighting, and composition. Plus, Ron Perlman makes a really good Hellboy.
Tomorrow I make Other Kenjari his preferred birthday treat: chocolate chip cookies. I made him a cake one year: chocolate, two layers, even the icing was from scratch. but he decided he liked my cookies better.
