by Jen DeLuca
This is the final in DeLuca's series of Renaissance Faire themed romances. In this one, overworked lawyer Louisa "Lulu" Malone, pushed too far by her demanding boss, spectacularly quits her job at a big law firm and impulsively decides to ride along with the music act Dueling Kilts and their managers as they tour the Faire circuit. Dex MacLean, the guitarist for the band, has a well-earned reputation as the bad-boy Casanova of the Faire world. However, when he and Lulu strike up a friendship that ignites into something more, they both have to figure out what kind of lives they really want.
This was a very endearing. I really enjoyed Lulu's journey of self-discovery and the way she negotiated a new future for herself. The romance between her and Dex was mostly a slow burn, which I always love. I loved that a key element to their relationship and its development was that Lulu sees more in Dex than most other people do, and how that affects him. Their solution to creating a life together out of two very different paths was also creative and lovely.
