by Lindsay C. Gibson
This self-help book was exactly what I needed. I won't go into the gory details, but what Gibson describes accurately reflects my mother and my experiences as her child, the family dynamics that ensued, and the effect on my inner psychology. Gibson's advice for how to move forward is very solid, and makes a lot of sense. It's also not labor-intensive to implement, at least as I've experienced it so far. I found this book at just the right time, too, as I had occasion to try out some of Gibson's advice right after I finished the book. I don't yet know how it will all play out, but this approach is making me feel less anxious and miserable about it all.
