In this historical romance, playwright Margaret Delamere is suffering a bout of writer's block at the worst of all times, when she is on the hook artistically and financially for the sequel to her last very successful play. Enter Cam, Lord Marwood, a notorious rake and sincere fan of the theatre. He has long admired both Maggie and her plays, and offers her assistance with her current predicament in the form of financial backing for her theater and the use of his country estate as a writer's retreat. Maggie tries to keep Cam at arms length, unwilling to risk her heart, but the attraction between them burns bright, as does something deeper as they get to truly know one another.
This was a solid if not spectacular romance. I liked both Maggie and Cam, each of whom had to overcome some baggage and fight for what they wanted. I loved how Cam quickly grows to respect and admire Maggie as he watches her work and strives to support her in that. I loved how Maggie brought out the best in Cam. I do wish the banter had been a bit better and that the tension had played out a little more. I did love the relationship that grew between Cam and Maggie.
