by Tessa Dare
In this historical romance novella, Diana Highwood is beautiful and the object of her mother's hopes for an advantageous marriage to a wealthy aristocrat. However, Diana is having none of it, as she is in love with the town blacksmith, Aaron Dawes. He returns her feelings. Despite their class differences, they get their happily ever after.
The brevity of this novella keeps the story fairly straightforward and direct, as well as relatively low-conflict. It's all very sweet and lovely and I quite liked it. There's a nice arc of Diana asserting herself and taking charge of her own life, too.
