The Hellion's Waltz
by Olivia Waite

This romance was pretty good, if not my favorite of Waite's. It's a historical that's sapphic, pro-labor, and features a heroine who's a musician. Sophie Roseingrave is a pianist and composer who has recently moved to the mill town of Carrisford with her family after their piano business was ruined by a con artist. Maddie Crewe is a ribbon designer and weaver who is plotting her own con to bring down Mr. Giles, a fabric merchant who regularly cheats and exploits the local weavers.
This novel was fun but a little lacking in depth. Maddie and Sophie are great characters and awesome people I would personally love to hang out with. However, their relationship happens very quickly, and I generally like a slower burn. They are a good team, but there is a slight lack of swooniness. The swindle plot is lots of fun and carried out in the service of labor rights. I really liked that the characters were working class and were shown actually working their jobs, too.
