I'm on lunch break, so here's a quiz

You scored as Existentialism. Your life is guided by the concept of Existentialism: You choose the meaning and purpose of your life.

“Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.”

“It is up to you to give [life] a meaning.”

--Jean-Paul Sartre

“It is man's natural sickness to believe that he possesses the Truth.”

--Blaise Pascal

Hmm. I was always under the impression that existentialism didn't appeal to you...not that it has to appeal to you to nonetheless accurately describe your outlook.

Existentialism itself is a pretty appealing philosophy. It's a lot of the existentialist philosophers I have beefs with. Some of them seem to be too preoccupied with the lack of inherent meaning, and don't spend enough time on man-made meaning, how it works, why we do it, why we need it, and what the freedom to create the meaning ourselves is all about. I think there's just too much concentration on the meaninglessness and not enough on the freedom and the act of creating meaning. If you don't get beyond the meaninglessness, then you might as well be a nihilist.
