A Princess in Theory
by Alyssa Cole

This romance novel was very sweet and had one of the best and cutest set-ups I've encountered in the genre. Naledi Smith is a busy epidemiology grad student who keeps getting emails claiming that she is the long-lost betrothed of an African prince. She reasonably assumes they are a scam, but they are not. Prince Thabiso comes to New York to try to track Naledi down. When she mistakes him for a new employee at her catering gig, he runs with it in an attempt to get to know her apart from the trappings of his royal life. They share a strong attraction, but when the truth comes out, it endangers their developing relationship.
I enjoyed this one a lot. Naledi was such a great heroine. She was smart and driven, yet had some insecurities and vulnerabilities from growing up as an orphan in foster homes. She's afraid to let people in yet really benefits from doing so. Thabiso is great as well. I really loved how reflective he was about his mistakes and how serious he was about dealing with them. I loved how his regaining Naledi's trust happened through a process rather than via a grand gesture.
