The Wedding Date
by Jasmine Guillory

This contemporary romance is the story of Alexa and Drew, who meet when they get stuck in an elevator together at a fancy San Francisco hotel. Drew is in town for a wedding and convinces Alexa to be his plus-one. They have an unexpectedly terrific time together and begin a steamy relationship somewhat complicated by their demanding careers and the fact that she lives in Berkeley and he's in LA.
I found this book sweet and fun. I loved Alexa - she's smart, incredibly competent, slightly insecure about her attractiveness, and a good friend and sister. Drew is very appealing, if occasionally a bit clueless about some stuff. Alexa and Drew are very good together and good for each other, though. The main conflict centers around their fears about their growing feelings for each other and the hesitancy to discuss their relationship that comes from that. I also liked that it's an inter-racial relationship and how that aspect is dealt with in the book. I loved the way Guillory realistically portrays two professionals who are serious about their jobs falling in love without anyone having to sacrifice their satisfying career.
