Winding up 2008, beginning 2009

My year wrapped up pretty pleasantly, despite having a slight cold. I've been on vacation for the past week and a half, so I've been able to indulge in plenty of sleeping late and relaxing.
On the penultimate day of the year, I went up to Kendall Square to have lunch with my former (Genzyme) boss S and co-worker L. We had a great meal at Legal Seafood and a nice time catching up. L gave me the lowdown on what's been going on in my old department, confirming that leaving was the right decision. S and L also told me their own stories of horrible firings, which made me feel better about my own experiences. It was great to see them, and I'm really glad that I've been able to keep in touch.
Due to snow and the tenaciousness of my cold, Other Kenjari and I spent New Year's Eve at home. We ordered Indian food delivery and watched Casino Royale. Daniel Craig makes a terrific Bond and I thought the movie was a lot of fun, even if there were a few points at which the connections between the plot points could have been clearer. Oh, and Daniel Craig is super hot, amazingly super hot.
I hope 2009 is better than 2008. I especially hope for job stability so that I can concentrate on my music stuff more. I've got some exciting projects lined up: at least three new pieces to write, and a recital with
pantsie to put together.
I also hope this year to spend more time with friends. I've been feeling a little disconnected lately. I think I need to make more plans and put more effort into spending time with people.
