Well Matched
by Jen DeLuca

This is the third of DeLuca's Renaissance Faire themed romances, and it was very sweet and heartwarming. April Parker is a single mother whose daughter is about to graduate high school and go off to college. April is contemplating leaving the small town of Willow Creek, where she always felt like a bit of an outsider. In return for posing as her friend Mitch's girlfriend at a fraught family event, April enlists him in helping her with some minor house renovations in preparation for selling it. In the process of all of this, April finally gets involved with the town Renaissance Faire her daughter loves so much, finds out she's not the outsider she thought, and, of course, falls very much in love with Mitch.
I really liked this romance. The characters have a lot of depth and layers. April has always been self-sufficient and private and has some difficulty with her developing feelings for Mitch and what that means for her life. Mitch is the town gym teacher and coach as well as the kilt-clad hottie of the Faire, and has some inner tension around being seen as just the affable, flirty jock. I loved both characters: April for her strength and caring, and Mitch for his warmth and emotional depth. He was so good at protecting and caring for April without it undermining her strength and competence.
