This historical romance had a nice balance of fun and deeper emotions and themes. Lady Sarah Frampton is a duke's daughter and confirmed wallflower. Intelligent, not afraid to speak her mind, as well as tall and not conventionally beautiful, she seems destined for spinsterhood. In addition, she has a scandalous secret to protect: she writes erotic novels under the pseudonym A Lady of Dubious Quality. Jeremy Cleland is a country vicar and third son to an earl. His powerful, moralizing father has called him to London and given him the task of discovering the identity of the Lady of Dubious Quality. When Sarah and Jeremy meet at a garden party, they hit it off and quickly marry. However, soon after their wedding they must deal with the revelation of Sarah's career as a writer.
I liked the way the story was witty and fun while exploring what it means to show your full self to someone and to love and be loved for those full selves. Both Sarah and Jeremy had to grapple with what they were willing to reveal and how that would shift their relationship. The happy ending felt real and earned.
