In the Cities of Coin and Spice
by Catherynne M. Valente

In the Cities of Coin and Spice continues and concludes the Orphan's Tales series, and it is still amazing. The stories still nest in and spiral around each other, with frequent reference to the tales from the first book. However, this time the tales are darker and imply that they are taking place at a later time than those in the first book. Some of the places seen in the first set of stories are now portrayed as in decline or even outright ruins. The stories are still wonderful, though, and the whole is every bit as compelling in this second half as it was in the first. My only possible criticism is that there isn't more.
