Book Review

by John Roselli
I read this book mostly to brush up on Mozart's biography, and it was pretty much the perfect book with which to do so. I particularly liked the way in which Roselli debunked various myths about Mozart in a straightforward, matter-of-fact manner without making a big deal of any of it. I also found his positioning of Mozart as someone who, during the last part of his life, lived and worked on the bleeding edge of Romanticism and how that affected the man himself, his music, and the later reception of both.
