Partying with musicians
Nov. 2nd, 2009 10:23 pmPart 2 of my Halloween weekend (yeah, I'm posting about these out of order) was the Juventas Unmasked party, an elegant cocktail party hosted by one of my favorite local new music groups. It was a very nice evening - tasty desserts, delicious punch, and great conversation with musicians and music lovers. The evening also included two performances - a really cool sax piece whose name and composer I unfortunately don't remember, and a repeat of "Fnugg", a solo tuba piece by Norwegian composer Oystein Baadsvik, that Juventas presented on a concert earlier this year. it's got multiphonics and beatboxing (yes, beatboxing).
And there's a video available of the composer performing it:
(It starts out with a little explanation and demonstration. The piece starts shortly before 3:00)
