by Susan Holloway Scott
This light historical novel is about Barbara Villiers Palmer, Charles II's longest running and most infamous mistress. it covers the period from her early adolescence to the end of her relationship with Charles (although they continued to be on fairly good terms afterwards). If not a very deep or clever book, Royal Harlot was definitely entertaining. Scott writes from Barbara's point of view and gives her a witty, gossipy, and often lascivious voice.
