On the mend
Jun. 1st, 2007 12:11 pmI'm getting better - these antibiotics are working quite nicely. I'm really tired, but at least the fever and most of the pain are gone. The swelling and inflammation in my ears is slowly going away, so my hearing is returning to normal. I've got about a week left of antibiotics, and I can't wait until it's over. The pills leave a gross metallic taste on my tongue after I've swallowed them, and the dosing schedule is annoying. I have to take four doses, six hours apart, on an empty stomach. I have to get up at 5:30am to take the first pill.
To keep myself awake between breakfast and my late-morning dose, I've taken to watching the children's programming on PBS - it's less insulting to my intelligence than most of what else is on, and I've been too tired and achy to concentrate on a book for the last couple of days. I've found that I really like Thomas the Tank Engine, oddly enough. The visuals are very attractive and the chracters display a surprising range of emotions, both positive and negative.
Thanks for all the good wishes. I hope to be back to my normal activities sometime next week.
