New England Conservatory rejected me. And they apparently didn't waste any time doing so, either. They were my thrid (and thus last) choice school, so I'm not really upset, just a bit disappointed. I thought I'd at least get invited to sit for the DMA entrance exam.
I've got at least one bit of encouraging news from Oregon, though. I've been notified about the qualifying exam for the theory graduate teaching fellowships. This exam is only for the purposes of getting a theory fellowship - it is entirely separate from admissions. Either I'm on the short list, or they've changed their procedures for this exam, because I did not receive any such notification last year.
I'm going to arrange to take the test here, by finding a professor to proctor for me. Flying out to Oregon for a single day in February is unfortunately not practical. The test itself is pretty rigorous, and includes several tasks that I've never had to do on a test before. I was feeling pretty intimidated about the whole thing. But today I started studying for it, and I don't think it's going to be that bad. All the ear-training and score-reading skills that I'd gained in grad school have stuck with me, even though I haven't been actively practicing them for quite some time. And my 20+ years of playing keyboard instruments is making the keyboard skills portion of the test a lot easier than it looks.
